Securities Litigation

In 1995, Congress enacted the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act (PSLRA), which was intended and designed to increase the role of institutional investors in securities class actions. Indeed, it has been empirically proven that class actions directed by institutional investors have resulted in far greater recoveries for investors, both in terms of financial recoveries and corporate governance improvements and today most class action cases are directed by institutional investors, as Congress intended.

Since the passage of the PSLRA, AF&T and its experienced attorneys have specialized in representing investors, including public and private institutions world-wide, in securities fraud litigation throughout the United States, leading to the recovery of billions of dollars for harmed investors. AF&T recognizes, however, that institutional investors have limited time and resources to dedicate to securities litigation. Accordingly, our Institutional Investor Services are designed to ease such burdens.

AF&T helps its institutional investor clients develop securities fraud litigation policies and protocols that allow their board members to efficiently assess all claims and take necessary steps to protect their interests without any disruption to their normal business activities. AF&T also exercises tremendous discretion to ensure that we only recommend pursuing meritorious securities fraud cases that are likely to result in a substantial recovery, making certain that the time and efforts of our clients are well spent.

In the event that an institutional investor decides to pursue legal action, AF&T would propose to represent that client on a full contingency fee basis pursuant to which the client would not be responsible for any out-of-pocket costs or attorneys’ fees unless the action is successfully resolved, the fee award is approved by the presiding court and payable from the funds recovered or by the defendants in the action.
